- Peels and cores from 8 apples
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- Filtered water
- Quart mason jar
- Cheesecloth or unbleached coffee filter
How to Make Apple Cider Vinegar From Fresh Apples

Place the apple scraps in a quart jar. It should fill the jar about 3/4 full.

Add the sugar. Cover the apple scraps with filtered water. Make sure the apple scraps are all covered.

Plae the lid on the jar and shake to mix the sugar, water, and apple peels. Then remove the lid and place cheesecloth or a coffee filter on the jar. Use the ring to secure the filter.

Let your apple scrap vinegar sit for about 2 weeks at room temperature.

Pour the apple scrap vinegar through a strainer, reserving the liquid. Discard or compost the apple scraps. Pour the liquid back in the mason jar. Cover it with a coffee filter and use a canning ring to attach it. Let sit for another 4 weeks. Stir it every day.

Once it smells and tastes like ACV, remove the coffee filter and add a mason jar lid.
